A Backpacking Adventure

A week ago today, Matt got back from a brotherly, bonding, backpacking trip in Montana. He had been planning this trip for at least six months, so needless to say, he couldn't wait to get into the mountains! He left June 25 and flew up to Bozeman, Montana, with his younger brother, Brian. His friend, Patrick, picked them up at the airport and they immediately took a 10 mile hike in the mountains around Bozeman while they waited for Matt's older brother, Justin, to arrive at the airport later that evening. All four of them spent two days in Bozeman before they made their trip into the wilderness, more commonly known as, Glacier National Park.

Matt, Justin, and Patrick. Here is to Day 1 of freeze dried food packets, purifying water, bathing in glacial water, and setting up camp in the smallest tents known to man!

I think they took lots of pictures, just so they could take breaks! :) Justin, Brian, Matt.

Scenery along the way

Setting up camp! Like I said, smallest tent known to man! Who knew these 4 guys and all of their belongings could fit into these two little tents!

The boys. Patrick, Justin, Brian, Matt.
This would be their goat friend, George. Apparently, George followed them around for an entire day and just hiked beside them.

A backpacking trip is not complete unless you rest along the way! Matt on the left and Brian taking in the gorgeous views!

Matt and Patrick hiking over a little snow!

Taking another break for a picture!

I'm pretty sure this is where they bathed! Maybe not.... :)

On their way back to Bozeman, the boys stopped at my parent's lake house, which is right outside of Kalispell, Montana. A short hike from my parent's house is a smaller lake that is perfect for cliff jumping!! Of course, the boys had to do it!

Matt taking the plunge!

Overall, the guys had an amazing experience! It will be one that they will tell stories from for a long time to come! They had perfect weather, there were no grizzly bear attacks, and everybody came back in once piece! That last one in itself is a miracle! I'll leave you with one final picture...

Matt leaning out of the cruiser to off-set some weight in the back corner so they don't plunge off of the mountain! Glad I wasn't on that off-roading expedition!!
